Competition nights are more punctual due to needing to get through and judge everybody’s print and digital images.
All images, print and digital, are presented anonymously (without names) so that no-one is identified while the judge critiques their work.
Members take their seats and the room is darkened. All images are projected first, then individually critiqued by the judge and, at the end of the session, the gold, silver and bronze winning images and photographers are identified.
We then take a 15 minute tea break during which time the print images can be viewed before judging. These are carefully hung and lit in a separate viewing gallery at the beginning of the evening.
The prints are then individually placed in an illumination box at the front of the room for simultaneous viewing and critique, followed by awarding the gold, silver and bronze winners.

Digital images
Are submitted well in advance of the meeting, typically on the Saturday following the Tuesday lecture but no later than midday Sunday. An email indicating the looming deadline is always sent to request submissions. Images are projected onto a screen using our colour-calibrated projector from a Windows laptop connected via HDMI
